Welcome to The Big Gnosall Tree Count! By accessing or participating in this project, you agree to the following terms and conditions. These terms apply to all visitors, volunteers, contributors, and users of our website, mobile tools, and digital content.

1. Purpose of the Project

The Big Gnosall Tree Count exists to crowdsource data about mature and ancient trees to support biodiversity, environmental awareness, and community involvement. All contributions are made voluntarily and in the spirit of citizen science.

2. Respect for Privacy and Property

• Volunteers must not enter private land without permission.
• Trees visible from public roads or paths can be recorded, but must not be physically accessed unless public access is permitted.
• Photos should not show identifiable homes, people, or number plates.
• Any measurements taken on private land require the explicit consent of the landowner.

3. Data Use and Ownership

• All submitted data (e.g., location, girth, species, photos) becomes part of the Big Gnosall Tree Count database and may be used for educational, environmental, and promotional purposes.
• Contributors are credited where appropriate, but the project reserves the right to use submitted content anonymously.
• No personal identifying information is collected unless voluntarily provided (e.g. name for leaderboard).

4. Accuracy and Integrity

• Volunteers agree to record data as accurately and honestly as possible.
• Any knowingly false data entries may be removed to preserve the integrity of the project.

5. Safety

• Always take care when working outdoors.
• Do not measure trees near roads, water, or other hazards without appropriate caution.
• Under-16s should always be accompanied by an adult.

6. Use of Digital Tools

• The website and mobile tools are provided “as-is.” We do our best to keep them running smoothly, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service or bug-free performance.
• By using the tools, you agree not to misuse or attempt to tamper with the platform.

7. Limitation of Liability

The Big Gnosall Tree Count, its organisers, and volunteers are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage incurred during participation. You take part at your own risk and discretion.

8. Changes to Terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the project tools or participation in the project implies acceptance of any updated terms.
